Calibration Lab: Traceable Force Measurement

Force measurement is only as good as the chain behind it. We have upgraded the in-house calibration bench so that force readings are traceable to national standards rather than to a factory-transfer value.

What changed

The bench now uses a set of Class F1 weights and a reference load cell with a certificate renewed annually. Both the reference cell and the weights carry certificates issued by a laboratory accredited under CNAS, so the uncertainty of the whole chain can be stated instead of assumed.

Why it matters for buyers

When a tensile tester is calibrated against a traceable reference, the reading on the display can be defended during an external audit. For customers working to ISO/IEC 17025 or preparing for a customer audit, the calibration certificate that accompanies the machine now states the reference used and the expanded uncertainty.

Routine checks on site

Between annual calibrations, a daily check with a single check weight is enough to catch a drifting channel. If the reading moves beyond the stated tolerance, stop and call us before running further tests — a drifted sensor produces clean-looking data that is quietly wrong.
