Electronics Plant Brings Damp-Heat In-House

Customer: An electronics manufacturer that needed in-house environmental screening before shipping industrial control boards.

Challenge: Boards were sent to an outside lab for damp-heat and thermal cycling, which added two weeks to every design change and made it hard to reproduce a failure on the spot.

Solution: A 225 L temperature and humidity chamber with programmable ramp-and-soak profiles, plus a separate 800 L chamber for whole-enclosure tests. Both were installed in an air-conditioned bay with a dedicated 32 A supply, and the controller was set up with the customer's own IEC 60068-2-78 profile library.

Result: Damp-heat screening moved from a two-week outsource cycle to an overnight run. Uniformity measured at nine points across the working volume stayed within ±1.5 °C in the steady state, and the same profile can now be replayed months later with the stored recipe.
